Teens & Tweens Nature Day
A Nature Connection & Skills Program
Ages 10-14 • Sonoma
There was a time when nature knowledge, time outdoors and basic wilderness skills were a given for most kids. Now they are not. Many kids have grow up not knowing how to identify common plants and animals, not knowing how to carve, make a fire or sleep outdoors. What's even more concerning is how little outdoor time in general many have.
At Vilda we help youth create a lasting and confident connection to nature. A connection that is based on fun, knowledge and belonging. Our programs focus on meaningful relationship to natural place, others and self. Kids develop a sense of being an important part of their environment and a desire and comfort to spend more time outdoors together.
We develop practical earth skills and naturalist knowledge through our core curriculum, badge system and individualistic guidance of experienced adult instructors.
This program is a great complement to a week spent with academics and a great addition to homeschool curriculum. It has been used by some families to fulfill a part of physical education and natural science requirements.
Our school year programs are continuous programs that run from September through June. We encourage students to stay for the whole year, however we do have a policy that you can cancel with a 30 day notice.
What if the session I want is full?: Join the waitlist! Sometimes we’re able to expand capacity (and sometimes people cancel). If your spot in the waitlist opens, you’ll receive an email and then have a limited time reserved to register.
